School and Library Visits
School and library visits are opportunities for students to meet authors, ask questions, listen to a reading, engage in a hands-on workshop, and celebrate books. If you’d like to organize a school or library visit from a Young Kingston member, contact us via email at email@example.com. We are happy to answer questions and provide contact information for the author(s) you would like to invite.
To help defray the cost of an author visit, teachers, librarians and other hosts may apply for reading subsidies from the The Writers’ Union of Canada.
Canada Council for the Arts also provides funding for readings.
Customized Talks and Workshops
Authors may be willing to create a custom talk for schools or groups to target particular writing issues for your class. Don’t be afraid to ask! Presentations can support specific expectations in the Ontario Curriculum—and most address many overall expectations in Language and/or English. Hands-on writing workshops are also possible.
